Nuevo León

China derives its name from its former name: Valley of San Felipe de Jesús de China, which honored the first Mexican saint, San Felipe de Jesús, who had been assigned as a missionary of his Franciscan order to Greater China from the convent of Santa María de los Ángeles in Manila.

It is located in the North American Great Plains province, within the Coahuila and Nuevo León Plains subprovince, in the far eastern part of the state of Nuevo León.
