Villaldama, Nuevo León, is named in honor of Juan Aldama, a leader of the War of Independence. It is located in the northern part of the state, at coordinates 100°25′ west longitude and 26°30′ north latitude, at an elevation of 420 meters above sea level. It borders the municipality of Lampazos de Naranjo to the north and Salinas Victoria to the south; Sabinas Hidalgo to the east and Bustamante to the west. It is approximately 96 km from the state capital.
