Nuevo León

It is named in honor of the insurgent brothers José Martín Herrera and Colonel Rafael Herrera—the former a hero from Nuevo León, the latter the commander of the Battle of San Bernabé. It was formerly known as Rancho de la Manteca.

The municipality of Los Herreras is located northeast of the city of Monterrey in the Gulf Coastal Plain region, specifically in the central-eastern part of the state at coordinates 25°53′ north latitude and 99°33′ west longitude, at an elevation of 281 meters above sea level.
