The Santa Elena estate was renamed Villa de General Zuazua in honor of a distinguished figure from the War of the Reform, whom historians have called the “Hero of the Reform” and the “General of Generals,” the latter title for having granted the rank of general to officers who served under his command, such as Ignacio Zaragoza, Mariano Escobedo, Silvestre Aramberri, Jerónimo Treviño, Lázaro Garza Ayala, and others who later became National Heroes.

It is bordered by Ciénega de Flores to the north, Apodaca to the south, Higueras and Marín to the east, and Salinas Victoria to the west.
